Dilip Tirkey's win to cause Rs5-cr loss for S'garh annually

Published on:

The Sundargarh district will lose MP lAD fund of Rs5 crore per annum if BJD candidate for the Sundargarh lok Sabha constituency Dilip Tirkey wins the ensuing polls.

Critical political analysts see the victory effect of Tirkey in a different manner. They argue that till March 31, 2014 the district had three MPs, incumbent lok Sabha member Hemananda Biswal and two Rajya Sabha members, Mangala Kissan and Dilip Tirkey. After Mangala’s tenure BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik could not send him further and ultimately, Sundargarh, the tribal dominated district, was deprived of MP lAD of Rs5 crore per annum. Now despite being a Rajya Sabha MP, Titkey is contesting as a lok Sabha candidate. If he gets elected, there is every possibility that the BJD chief would send a new one from other district to the Rajya Sabha. In such a situation, the district will have only one MP and would get only Rs5 crore as MP lAD instead of Rs15 crore, argued the analysts.
