Meeting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, senior BJP leader and Rourkela MlA Dilip Ray reiterated his demand for establishment of an ESIC Medical College in Rourkela instead of Bhubaneswar.
Justifying his demand, Ray said the numbers of insured persons (IPs) are more in Rourkela and many IPs are also working in different industries and business houses around the steel city.
Ray pointed out that two Government medical colleges including the AIIMS, three private medical colleges and many ultramodern Government and private hospitals already exist in Bhubaneswar. However in western Odisha, there are only two medical colleges, including, the VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla, 200 kilometer from Rourkela and privately-managed Hi-Tech Medical College, Rourkela whose condition has been deteriorating by the day.
Besides, he also discussed about a second bridge over river Brahmani and early formation of the proposed Rourkela Municipal Corporation. Despite the fact that Rourkela is the second largest city after the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack twin city in the State, its people suffer due to inadequate health facility, rued Ray and hoped that the Chief Minister would take early steps in this regard.
