The State Government has introduced a toll-free telephone number 1077 in the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) in the Collectorate of each district to receive drinking water-related grievances from public and monitor the same for redressal.
Special Relief Commissioner and Disaster Management Secretary Bishnupada Sethi, in a letter to all Collectors, said the Government has decided that all grievances relating to drinking water supply in both rural and urban areas would be monitored on a daily basis by the Department of Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water and the Housing & Urban Development Department, respectively, during the summer season.
The Collectors were asked to activate the DEOCs of their districts with immediate effect to function on 24x7 to receive grievances or complaints regarding drinking water supply, including repair of tube-wells, pipe water supply systems and supply of drinking water through tankers.
Immediate steps should be taken to deploy suitable staffs in rotation in the DEOCs for recording of complaints in this regard from public and communicate the same to the blocks or UlBs for redressal of the grievances, said Sethi.
He further asked the Collectors to check that the toll-free number 1077 in the DEOCs is operational and connected to a dedicated telephone set.
A list containing details of the grievances or complaints received from public till 2 pm along with remedial actions, if any, would be communicated to the Collector with a copy to the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water and Housing & Urban Development Departments through e-mail by 3 pm every day.
