The World Diabetes Day was observed with this year’s theme “Women and diabetes: Our right to a healthy future” at the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) Hospital here on Tuesday.
Paradip ladies’ Club president Subhalaxmi Roy inaugurated the event and distributed prizes to the winners of different competitions held among school children.
On the occasion, a walkathon was organised to create awareness about diabetes-related problems among the denizens of the port township. PPT Deputy Chairman N Vaiyapuri flagged off the walkathon in which the hospital doctors, paramedical staffs along with PPT HODs, CISF personnel, ladies’ Club members and general public participated.
Free blood sugar tests, bone mass density detection, body mass Index, HB1AC, diabetic neuropathy, fundoscopy tests were conducted in association with specialists from AMRI, CARE and KIMS Hospitals, Bhubaneswar.
