On the eve of the World Diabetes Day on Monday, Diabetes and Endocare Clinic here led by Consultant Endocrinologist Dr Sunil Kumar Kota, on Sunday organised an awareness rally at the MKCG Medical College premises.
Around 200 participants registered for the event, where Higher Education Minister Dr Pradeep Panigrahy was the chief guest. Among others, district Collector Prem Chandra Chaudhary, local MlA Dr Ramesh Chandra Chyaupatnaik, Brahmapur Mayor K Madhavi and BDA Chairman Subash Maharana attended as guests.
Dr Kota spoke on the theme “Walk for Healthy life”. An awareness video on diabetes by Dr Kota was unveiled. The guests flagged off a rally, where people participated with a uniform dress code conveying the theme and carried blue coloured balloons, which was symbolic of World Diabetes Day.
Around 1,000 diabetes educational pamphlets were distributed amongst the passersby. Roland Group of educational institutions chief Dr J Surya Rao, and Jammula Jayalakshmi were present. The event witnessed a conglomeration of members from six volunteer organisations, physicians and people from various walks of life.
