Hundreds of tribals of Chhatia village under Gondia tehsil held a dharna in front of the Dhenkanal Collectorate on Friday demanding action against the illegal liquor trade in the Anganwadi centre by the Anganwadi worker and her husband at Sabar Sahi in the village.
The tribals alleged that the police and the Excise officials were not taking any action against the couple. Hence, they sought an enquiry into the whole matter and requested the Collector to terminate the Anganwadi worker if she was found an errant. Besides, they objected to the illegal Palli Sabha held at their village on July 8 last and sought its cancellation. “We will intensify the agitation if the administration remains nonchalant over the issue,” warned Atinda Bisa Adivasi Sabar Samaj president Dandia Dehury.
