The Vigilance officials on Thursday arrested the Gram Rojgar Sevaka (GRS) of Birasala GP under Kankadahada block in Dhenkanal district, Uchhaba Barik, after he was caught red-handed accepting bribe of `4,000.
The gist of the case is that a PMAY house was sanctioned in favour of Kodandadhara Bindhani of Rahani village under Kankadahada PS in the district. Bindhani requested Barik to submit an inquiry report to the block office for issuance of work order of the PMAY house. However, he demanded `4,000 for this purpose.
Complainant Bindhani reported the matter to the Cuttack Division Vigilance SP. Accordingly, a trap was laid and the accused Bindhani was caught red-handed in his betel shop at Birasala Chhak, while accepting the bribe money. The residential house of Barik at Birasala village in Dhenkanal district is being searched.
