Concerned over the shortage of adequate doctors at the Pallahara Sub-Division Hospital and launching of indefinite hunger strike by members of the Pallahara Nagarik Manch in front of the hospital demanding fulfilment of vacant posts, Rajya Sabha member and BJP national general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to intervene in the issue.
In a letter to Patnaik, Pradhan said, “I urge you to take note of the indefinite hunger strike and resolve the healthcare concerns expressed by people of the locality soon.”
“The healthcare service has been paralysed with a majority doctors’ posts lying vacant for a long period of time,” Pradhan said.
Besides residents of Pallahara of Angul district, people from Kamakhyamnagar block of Dhenkanal district, Telkoi block of Keonjhar and Barkot block of Deogarh are solely dependent on this hospital,” Pradhan pointed out in his letter.
