Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday urged investors to invest in Odisha and leverage the benefit being offered by the IndianOil in the wake of upcoming polypropylene plant in the State.
Pradhan met entrepreneurs, industry stakeholders and professionals from the plastics and textile industries at the inauguration of the “Textiles and Plastics Investors Conclave 2018” at Surat in Gujarat.
The conclave was organised on the sidelines of Odisha Parba held by Odisha Samaj at Surat.
Pradhan urged investors to make investments in plastic and textile parks coming up at Bhadrak and Paradip.
In reaction, Industries Minister Ananta Das said, “I don’t know about this as nobody has personally briefed me. There is no restriction on coming and investing in Odisha. But the Odisha Government’s support is required for setting up of industries.” He said it doesn’t matter who is inviting whom to Odisha but everything should be in the interest of Odisha.
More than 50,000 attended the inauguration day of the two-day Odisha Parba. The festival is being held at Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) in Sarsana to showcase the rich culture, heritage, history and legacy of Odisha.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated the event in the presence of Dharmendra Pradhan.
Around 322 artistes from Odisha will mesmerize audience with various traditional folk dance forms, Odishi and other cultural programmes during the fest. A replica of the three chariots of lord Jagannath, lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra has been displayed at the entrance gate of the event.
The food court at the fest will offer mouth-watering Odia delicacies, including street foods, sweets, pickles and traditional Odia thali.
