Dhamra Port asked to indemnify land losers

Published on:

The State Government has asked the Dhamra Port Company ltd (DPCl) to distribute cash settlements “immediately” among the persons who have lost their lands due to the port project and were promised a job.

In view of the inordinate delay that has already taken place in payment of the compensation amount, which was originally scheduled to be disbursed by 2007-08, the Government has directed the company to take proactive steps in this regard.

The Commerce and Transport Department’s letter to the port authorities in this regard said, “Necessary action may be taken (for submitting one-time cash settlement money with district Collector) immediately under intimation to this department. This may be treated as most urgent.”
