Director General of Police Sanjeev Marik on Monday conducted surprise inspection at different traffic posts in the city and warned police personnel deployed there of stern action for not noting the number of errant vehicles.
The DGP stopped his vehicle near the Power House traffic post where traffic personnel were standing like mute spectators though vehicles were passing in front of them violating traffic rules.
Sources said that though drivers were speeding recklessly violating road safety guidelines, the traffic personnel instead of noting the numbers of the vehicles were idle spectators. The sources added that the DGP himself called a PCR van and gave the officials the numbers he noted for action.
