DGP issues guidelines for smooth conduct of fests

Published on:

DGP RP Sharma has issued a set of instructions to all Superintendents of Police and DCPs for smooth management of different events during this festival season beginning from Ganesh Puja to Kartik Purnima and Baliyatra.

In the past, some provocative acts led to law and order situations in some parts of the State. There may be provocations over animal sacrifice in the Sakti Pithas as well as playing of loudspeakers at high decibels during idol immersion processions.

The DGP asked the SPs to be very careful for this.

He also called upon the SPs to pay special attention in communally sensitive districts for smooth observation of the festivals.

Besides, the RSS will observe its foundation day on the day of Vijaya Dasami on October 19. Before that, Muharram would be observed on September 21 coinciding with the immersion processions of Ganesh Puja and Vishwakarma Puja at some places. This may cause some kind of disturbance in some parts of the State, the DGP stated.

In order to tackle such difficult situations, Sharma instructed the SPs to be very careful and alert during the festival season.

He asked the SPs to take precautionary measures like launching special drives  for execution of warrants, unearthing illegal firearms, arrest of accused in pending investigation cases, booking  anti-socials, mischief mongers or fanatics be taken under preventive detention, booking hardcore criminals under NSA and conducting raids on illegal distillation and sale of liquor .
