DGP Abhay has approved a process for selection of Constables, Lance Naiks, Havildars and CI Havildars for Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) training. Out of the selected candidates, 849 are from the unreserved category and 243 from Scheduled Tribe police personnel.

The selected candidates would undergo ASI training for four months from February 15, 2021. After the training, they would have to clear an examination, after which they would undergo a practical training for two months at police stations. Then, they would be appointed as ASIs.

An official said the written exam was held for SC and ST police personnel after seven years; and for the unreserved category after a gap of 18 years.
