Two members of a family died due to suffocation in the city while two others were admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here in serious condition on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Anita Sahoo and her daughter Saina of Godabarish Nagar. Anita’s husband Ambuja Sahu and son Om are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The incident happened on Tuesday night when the family members inhaled smoke coming out of the running Diesel Generator (DG) kept in the room to supply power. The family members forgot to shut the DG and went to sleep closing the doors.
Around 2 am on Wednesday, after getting a call from a neighbour a relative of the deceased knocked the doors and as he did not get any response, he broke open the doors and found the four members of the family in unconscious state. He rushed the ill-fated family to the hospital.
Anita and her daughter Saina were declared brought dead at the hospital.
