Ghumusar (South), Bhanjanagar, Ganjam DFO Bijoy Ketan Acharya was on Wednesday arrested for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The Vigilance sleuths had raided his triple storied building at Sikhara Chandi Nagar, Patia, Bhubaneswar, triple storied building at Sahid Nagar, Bhubaneswar, building at native place Andarapur, Kalyannagar, Cuttack, residential Government quarter and office chamber at Bhanjanagar simultaneously on June 23 and traced his assets of crores of rupees.
His two bank lockers were opened on June 25 and 26 and huge amount of hard cash and gold ornaments including gold biscuits were found.
Thus, in course of search and inventory, the income, expenditure and assets of Acharya were calculated and he was found in possession of total assets worth Rs3,51,02,73. His disproportionate assets to the known sources of income comes to the tune of Rs 3, 22,80,130. Acharya ould not account for his property worth over Rs3 crore.
The vigilance registered a case against him and his spouse. He will be forwarded to the court and the investigation was on.
