Veteran politician and Congress leader Arun Dey on Thursday criticised the attitude and approach of the State Government in the State Assembly during its current session. He alleged that the conduct of the Treasury Bench was unprecedented as it was stalling discussions on the various scams on the pretext of Central Government’s neglect towards the State in meeting the losses caused by natural calamities.
“The BJD has 29 members in the Parliament. The issue pertains to the Central Government, and Parliament is the appropriate place to raise the issue. But here the members of the Assembly Treasury Bench are disrupting the House in this context. This tactics is adopted by them is a deliberate attempt to avoid discussions on the chit fund scam,” he said.
Dey further said that with the stalling of business hours, not only time but also the money of the taxpayers is lost. Curtailment of the number of mandatory days for Assembly sitting is not a healthy sign, he said.
While chit fund companies have looted crores of rupees of innocent and poor people, in Baleswar a ponzi company, Basil International, too siphoned crores of rupees of the investors through fake attractive schemes, importantly having patronage of MlAs. He demanded a CBI inquiry into the scam of this company.
Dey was speaking at Press conference at the Congress office here. Party office-bearers Satyanaryan Mohanty and Ranjan Baug were present.
