They are facing corruption charges. Even the Vigilance has registered cases against them and a probe is still on. But the three officials of the city-based Odisha Association for Blind (OAB) are still handling the financial transactions and other financial activities of the association.

According to a reply of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the State Assembly on December 14 last year, Vigilance case has been registered against OAB general secretary Bihari Nayak, accountant Ashok Kumar Nanda and treasurer Kedarnath Sahoo on the allegation of misappropriation of Government fund by building false record, adopting forgery with criminal conspiracy amounting to Rs56,30,629 received from Women and Child Development and School and Mass Education Department for implementation of Inclusive Education of Disabled at Secondary Stage (IEDSS) introduced by the Department of School Education and literacy of Ministry of the Human Resources Development for utilisation in the interest of blinds and disabled persons.

“Despite of the knowledge of the Chief Minister about the corruption case the accused persons are neither being arrested nor asked to further operate the bank accounts for the Odisha Association for the Blind. The incriminatory records and passbooks have not yet been seized by the Vigilance department,” said Institute of Social Work and Research (ISWAR) general secretary Sannyas Kumar Behera.

He demanded the Chief Minister take immediate steps to prohibit the three officials to deal with financial activities of the association.
