Despite precautions, Covid graph on rise in Sambalpur

With 121 Covid positive cases on Monday, the corona graph is in upward movement in Sambalpur and also all over the western districts. All precautions including night curfew have hardly proved effective to control the menace.

People hardly bother for social/physical distancing or follow the guidelines in public places like hospitals and malls. People think that it is work of the police and administration to impose restrictions and contain infection while they have nothing to with the anti-Corona measures. Within a week, the police and MVIs have collected lakhs of rupees as fine from the erring public all over the district.

Still then some people are seen without masks and helmets in the heart of the city either to show their highhandedness or ignorance.

It was expected that night curfew and strict guidelines will have a control over the situation. But hardly is any development seen and scorching heat has added to the difficulties of the people and law enforcement agencies.

In the current week, 508 persons (including today’s figure) have been found to be Covid positive, as seen from the district Health Department report. It was 86 on Sunday and 77 on Saturday. “In such a situation, it is people who need to be careful and help to break the chain.

By following the simple guidelines of maintaining physical distance and putting mask on faces all the time, this could be achieved,” said Collector of Sambalpur Subham Saxena, when contacted about spreading of the disease. “We are also watchful to the situation and updating exclusive wards for Covid in VSSIMSAR further to meet the needs of the patients,” he added.

Notably, the situation in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Nuapada and other districts of western Odisha is alarming and the respective administrations and health departments in particular are working their best to break the chain with appeal to the public to be extra careful during this crucial hour.
