Despite lawsuits, Varsha to stay at in-laws’ place

Varsha Priyadarshini, estranged actress-wife of actor and Kendrapada MP Anubhav Mohanty, would continue to stay at her in-laws’ house at Nandi Sahi in Cuttack despite marital lawsuits pending in courts, informed her counsel Ram Krushna Rath on Tuesday.

Rath was reacting to a statement made recently by Anubhav as to why Varsha is staying at his house if she was subjected to domestic violence.

“In order to ensure her own safety and harmonise her marital status, my client will continue to stay at her in-laws’ place,” Rath said, adding that Anubhav’s attempt to disprove Varsha’s allegations are quite “irrelevant” at this stage.

Varsha has filed a lawsuit alleging domestic violence against her husband.Rath was also reacting over an unsavoury incident that took place on Monday evening when Varsha made a distress call to police emergency service. Police said she informed the police control room (PCR) that some uninvited persons had entered into her portion of the house and she was feeling uncomfortable with their conduct.

Rath said two acquaintances of Anubhav entered into the house and one of them barged inside Varsha’s bedroom and started video recording while she was having food.

Rath said he would bring this incident to notice of  court. Meanwhile, local Purighat police have provided 24-hour protection to Varsha on her request from Tuesday morning although she had refused any police protection on Monday evening.

A police team led by a woman officer had rushed to Anubhav’s house on Monday evening, confirmed Cuttack City DCP Pratik Singh.“The caller, identifying herself, informed police that there are now multiple numbers of people at her house and she was not feeling comfortable for presence of some of them.

She, however, expressed confidence after seeing police and refused to take any police help,” Singh had told this correspondent on Monday evening.
