Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan on Monday slammed the leaders who are leaving the party and said such desertions would have no impact on the Congress, which is still strong.
While staging a peaceful demonstration before the Congress Bhawan here protesting the violence during the Bharat Bandh held by Dalit outfits on April 2, Harichandan said, “Those who are deserting the Congress for personal greed and benefits would get a befitting reply from the people. The Congress in the State was strong and will continue to stay strong.”
“The Congress is like a ‘phoenix’ that rises from its own ashes. The party will undergo a ‘Nabakalebar’ soon. If some leaders have left, new faces would join. Earlier also, the party had bounced back after being written off many times,” said Harichandan.
He further said the party would unite and face the forthcoming elections and win the faith of the people.
It is worth mentioning that many senior leaders of the party including former Union Minister Chandra Sekhar Sahu have, meanwhile, left the Congress alleging growing indiscipline and weak leadership, for which the party’s fortunes are on a downswing.
