Depositors, who were cheated by Mangalpur-based chit fundfirm Siddha Mhapurusa Money Society, demanded before the SP of Kendrapada recently to take prompt action against the IIC of Nikirai police station as he harassed them and helped the accused without proper
investigation in the case.
They threatened to hold a fast unto death agitation in front of SP office for indefinite period if the proper inquiry was not made and disciplinary actions against the IIC of Nikirai police station was not initiated soon.
According to the depositors, who met the SP recently, managing director of the chit fund firm laxmipriya Rout, wife of late Trilochan Rout, and her children along with accountant of the firm Dharanidhar Das duped 641members of the firm of Rs 4.24 crore and later fled the locality. Though the depositors later lodged an FIR at Nikirai police station, but they failed to get any relief from the local police. In June last, some of the depositors knocked the
doors of the then SP of Kendrapada and brought the matter to his notice.
As a result, the then SP had directed the IIC of Nikirai, Pradyumna Kumar Nayak, to look into the matter by taking legal action against the
errant. But the direction was carried out.
Realising the malafied intention of the Nikirai IIC, the then SP handed over the inquiry to the DSP (Headquarters) Satyanarayan Das.
later, DSP Das conducted an inquiry and arrested the accused, except accountant Dharindhar Das. The supervision officers of the case directed the IIC of Nikirai police station Pradyumna Kumar Nayak to meet the persons, who took loan from the chit fund firm and ask them to repay the loan. He was also instructed to take legal action against them.
Though there is a provision to submit chargesheet before the court against the arrested persons within 60 days, but the IIC allegedly by taking monetary gratification did not send the chargesheet to the court and the accused managed to get bail from the court, alleged the depositors ,while submitting a memorandum before the SP.
Meanwhile, the depositors demanded engagement of an Inspector instead of IIC of Nikirai to lead their case.
Meanwhile, on Friday last, SP Nitinjeet Singh transferred the IIC of Nikirai police
station Nayak to the police headquarters.
