Former MlA Bibhudendra Pratap Das on Saturday demanded deployment of retired defence personnel for the security maintenance of the lord Jagannath Temple at Puri, lingaraj Temple at Bhubaneswar and Sun Temple at Konark. He also urged the Government not to delay in installing a Xerox-scanner at the Jagannath Temple.
“There is no confidence in the State police from the temple security point of view. Hence, it will be better to engage defence personnel for security purpose at least for these three temples,” said Das. He also slammed the Government for its inordinate delay in installing a sophisticated X-ray scanner for screening of baggage of visitors at the Jagannath Temple.
The Government has not taken any action for installation of Xerox-scanner at all the entry gates of these three temples despite demand over a period of three years, alleged Das. “I urged the Government to put Xerox-scanner machines in all these three prominent temples to prevent any untoward incidents in future,” added Das.
