Senior BJP leader Minaketan Amant of Angul on Monday resigned from the primary membership of the party after being denied ticket to contest in the elections.
He tendered his resignation to BJP’s State president Basant Panda alleging party’s negligence and injustice towards him.
“I am deeply hurt over party’s decision for not giving me ticket, for which I am resigning from the party’s primary membership as well as Angul State working member,” he wrote in the letter.
Expressing resentment over ticket allotments for both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, Amant said, “I had been working hard for the party in the past 30 years without any condition.
Even, I had left ae high-salaried job in Nalco to strengthen the organisation.
However, I was not offered the party ticket for the Assembly polls; even, I was not consulted in the candidates’ selection.”
Notably, Amant was the BJP’s candidate twice for the Angul Assembly constituency for the 2009 and 2014 elections. However, he had lost both times.
