The number of dengue-infected persons in the State increased to 797 on Tuesday, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak.

He said 130 patients are now undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the State. “We are taking steps to control the situation,” he said after holding a review meeting here. The meeting was also attended by Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singh Deo and top officials of both the departments.

Nayak said both the departments would work in close coordination to combat the dengue menace, and a special taskforce has been formed to monitor the situation.

It was also decided that the Health Department would provide logistics support while the Urban Development Department would take up a sanitation drive on a war-footing in the dengue-affected urban pockets. Singh Deo said a joint action plan has been prepared to carry out massive cleaning drive in the dengue-hit urban areas.
