Even as the number of dengue-afflicted persons rose to 225 on Monday with blood samples of 90 more persons tested dengue positive, Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak said the disease was under control.
Nayak said this to mediaperson after presiding over a review meeting on the disease here.
“As many as 225 people have tested positive for dengue across the State. Of them, 13 are undergoing treatment. While 12 have been admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital, one patient is receiving treatment at the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital. Special arrangements are being done for free test and treatment of the patients,” the Minister said, adding that the situation is under control.
Special dengue wards have been opened at the Barbil Community Health Centre (CHC) and health experts from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur have reached the affected areas and are treating the patients, he said.
Meanwhile, the spread of dengue fever has created panic among the residents of Barbil Municipality. People were seen making a beeline to the CHC for blood test.
“We have been conducting screening and survey since June 26. We are collecting blood samples and sending for tests to Keonjhar. The situation is under control,” said Keonjhar ADMO Sudhanshu Sekhar Bal.
