The dengue menace is spreading fast in Ganjam district with the total number of affected persons reaching 38 so far.
Sources said 12 persons of Girisola were tested dengue positive on Wednesday, taking the total number of dengue patients in the district to 38. While some patients are undergoing treatment at the MKCG Medical College Hospital and private hospitals, some others are being treated at their homes.
On the other hand, mass awareness drives are being taken up at various places in the district for prevention of the disease. Some locals allege that as waterlogging in drains is mainly helping in the breeding of the dengue mosquitoes.
Though ASHA workers and other health workers are carrying out dengue awareness, the locals demand operation of Tifa machines and carrying out of cleanliness drives in the affected areas by the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC).
