In view of the rising dengue and other monsoon diseases like malaria and diarrhoea, the Youth for Social Development (YSD) has undertaken an awareness drive for 15 days here beginning from September 19.
The drive will cover as many as 40 slums keeping in view of their unsafe and unhygienic living condition. The YSD team has trained 10 young people on approaches and methods of the programme. Child and youth clubs in the city have also participated and volunteering to make the awareness drive reach out to more and more people.
The team will clear doubts of the slum dwellers by answering to the questions raised by them. This programme is headed by Shashikant Das, Srinivas Dora, Chandan Sahu, SujataBisoi and Suchitra Rout of the YSD.
“It is very crucial for the slum dwellers, especially children, youth and women to be sensitised on the causes, symptom and prevention from such diseases and also the health facilities available in various health care centres in the city”, said YSD member Abhiram Kanhar.
