The State Government is partial by demolishing temples and religious institutions in Cuttack of the Hindus and hurting their sentiments, said Nikhil Utkal Matha-Mandiradhish Sevasangh president Swami Arupananda here on Wednesday.
Though the state Government is very conscious about institutions of other religions, it is planning to demolish 15,700 temples and religious places in the State which is very unfortunate and hurts the sentiment of lakhs of Hindus, he said.
In a written statement, Swami Arupananda said the State Government should protect the sentiments of people of all religions as India is a secular country.
“We don’t want to disrespect the order of the High Court, but certainly we oppose the State Government’s biasness,” Swami said, adding, “Those temples and mutts should be demolished which are creating problems for the traffic system only.”
Expressing grave concern over the issue, Swami Arupananda said semolition of the Hindu religious institutions is a clear violation of Right to Religion.
