The Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) staged a State-level demonstration here on Tuesday taking up a series of issues, including the ration card irregularity, chit fund scam and the recent Kandhamal firing incident.
The activists led by SUCI(C) Odisha committee member Raghunath Das staged the demonstration and held the district administration officials and some ruling party leaders for the large-scale irregularities and fraud in distribution of ration card. The body also slammed the Government for not taking any concrete steps for returning money to the investors duped by many chit fund companies. The investigation process is also going at a snail’s pace, said Das.
“Besides, the so-called Kandhamal police-Maoist exchange of fire that claimed life of five tribals, including a child, has revealed the inhuman and undemocratic mindset of the State Government,” he added.
later, a team of members headed by former MlA Sambunath Nayak submitted a nine-point charter of demands to the Chief Minister.
The other demands included filling up of vacant posts of doctors, nurses and staffs in hospitals and withdrawal of the proposed hike in electricity tariff.
