Workers of the ruling BJD on Thursday staged demonstrations in front of the Central Government offices in 18 districts of the State affected by cyclone Phailin and floods last month in protest against the “step-motherly attitude” of the Centre.
In Bhubaneswar, shouting anti-Union Government slogans, the party workers staged demonstration in front of the AG office, the railway station and other Central Government offices.
“Even though 25 days have elapsed since the Phailin hit the State, we are yet to receive any funds from the Centre despite having sent two memorandums seeking Rs 5,832 crore for rehabilitation works,” Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Surjya Narayan Patro said.
