An association of the advocates and moharirs on Monday staged a demonstration at the Nilgiri tehsil office, demanding immediate posting of the Tehsildar. The post is lying vacant for over last three months.
The association said that due to the absence of the Tehsildar, several schemes pertaining to the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) could not be properly implemented. The BDO is now looking after the tehsil affairs as his additional duty.
Among others, Nilgiri Bar Association president Mihir Kumar Rout, secretary Kishore Chandra Sarangi and Moharir Sangh president Purna Chandra Sarangi and secretary Amarendra Dasmohapatra demanded that the Government should not make further delays in filling up the vacancy.
