A demonstration was staged by a group of students from Bhubaneswar in front of the BPUT headquarters office here on Tuesday, protesting the recent examination centre clubbing decision of the university.
A delegation of students also met Director (Examination) and demanded immediate withdrawal of the examination centre swapping decision. The Director (examination) reportedly assured them of examining the demand and take necessary action. Sources said that considering the statistics that a very few numbers of students are appearing in different examination centers, the BPUT authorities had recently taken a decision to reduce the number of examination centers as per their strength. The students’ strength had reduced to single digit number in many of the examination centers, following which the BPUT had decided to go for center swapping with clubbing of about seven / eight centers. The decision, however, had sparked strong resentment among the students, following which a delegation had also met State Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Usha Devi at her office on Monday and informed their grievances, sources added.
