The Utkala Bikasha Juba Parisada urged the debt burdened farmers of the country not to repay a single pie to the nationalised banks till the Government collects all loans from big borrowers who have taken away crores of rupees.
Its president Debiprasad Prusti said the political leaders, officials, businessmen and industrialists have betrayed the faith of the poor countrymen. It is not just a fiscal crime rather a ‘Deshdroha’ (treachery to nation), he opined.
Prusti also urged the farmers to write letters to banks expressing that they would not repay their debt. He also cautioned the bank authorities not to take any measures against farmers. He sought support from farmers’ organizations, youths and women for a concerted fight.
