The Jeypore Bikash Mancha led by its president UN Mishra staged an agitation in front of the Sub-Collector’s residence demanding establishment of a division office of the Southern RDC here.
Sources said the Manch had given a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his visit to Koraput in this regard. They had mentioned that a division office of the RDC be set up at Jeypore for development of the undivided Koraput district.
“The Southern RDC office is situated at Brahmapur which is 350 km from Jeypore and still farther from other parts of the undivided Koraput district. Hence, a RDC division office should be established at Jeypore so that it will be easy to take developmental activities in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabrangpur and Rayagada districts. The RDC will also have a close look at these areas,” said the memorandum. As no response received from the Chief Minister’s Office, the Manch staged an agitation and also sent a reminder memorandum to the CM through the Sub-Collector.
They also threatened to expedite their agitation involving other organisations in coming days if the demand is not met soon. Among others, Manch general secreatary Manmohan Rout, vice-president Umamaheswar Pattanaik, secretary Nabakrishna Rath, Anup Patra, SV Ravana, Arati Mishra and Narsingha Pattanaik were present.
