The demand for establishment of a permanent Bench of the Orissa High Court in the western part of the State has once again gained momentum as members of the Sambalpur District Bar Association resorted to a dharna at Nelson Mandela Chhak here on Wednesday.
The association also decided to boycott work in all courts in the district from the day till September 20, the concluding day of the monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
This apart, the lawyers’ sit-in protest would take place from 10 am to 5 pm everyday till September 20, a member of the association said.
The lawyers’ body threatened to shut down offices of the district Collector, RDC, Registrar, RTO and Election Commission as part of their stir.
