Demand for airport in B’pur growing

Despite all required criteria under the Udan scheme to set up an airport in Brhampur, both State and Union Governments have since long been neglecting the legitimate demand of the people of Ganjam district.

Eminent personalities, educationists and organisations have joined hands together and started collecting signatures on postcards going door to door, making human chains, holding roadside meetings and processions  and creating mass awareness on this issue.

The success of roadside meetings and postcard campaigns in the constituencies of State Assembly Speaker and Chief Minister in the district has baffled the ruling BJD leaders.

“In spite of tall talks of local MP, MLAs and BJD leaders, the stoic silence of the authorities on the issue has enraged the people,” said advocate Abani Gaya. The CM should break his silence on this issue; otherwise, people of Brahmapur would intensify their agitation, he added.
