Higher Education Minister Predeep Panigrahy on Thursday told the State Assembly that fulfilment of demands of the teachers and employees of the 662 Category +2 and +3 private colleges depend on the in-principle decision and financial strength of the State Government.

The Minister said this in response to a question of BJD MlA Ranendra Pratap Swain. However, the Minister did not furnish any reply, as wanted by Swain, as to what steps have been taken to fulfil their demands.

The Minister said teachers and employees of the aforesaid colleges have been demanding scrapping of the Block Grant system and implementation of Full Grant-In-Aid and related service conditions.

Similarly, to a related question of Swain, the Minister said the proposal to resolve differences between the GIA Orders 2008 and 2009 is under active consideration of the State Government. Similarly, the Government is thinking over to regularise the posts of Attendants, Night Watchmen, Sweepers and PETs, who have been deprived of grants, the Minister said.
