In yet another incident of hooliganism during the panchayat elections in the State, a defeated Congress Zilla Parishad (ZP) member candidate was brutally attacked in Kalahandi district on Monday night.
According to reports, an opponent group attacked Zilla Parishad Zone no 1 candidate Muralidhar Nayak in Thuamul Rampur block. He was attacked on his head with a piece of iron bar.
The Congress leader was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bhawanipatna and is undergoing treatment at the ICU in a critical condition.
