A decomposed body of an unidentified person was found on the Mahendratanaya river sand bed near Madhabpur village under the Gurandi police station in Gajapati district on Sunday. But it was yet to be ascertained how the person died. A tractor was also found abandoned near it. The locals demanded police investigation to unravel the truth. Notably, hundreds of truckloads of sand are transported from the river sand bed.
Later, getting information a Gurandi police team led by IIC Mamata Panda reached the spot for probe. Panda said the body is half buried in the sand and a forensic team has been roped in for investigations. Only after their probe the truth can be ascertained.
