The kin got the body of a deceased contract worker in the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on Tuesday. He was identified as Rajesh Tiwari.
Tiwari’s family members were assured of compensation. Under the initiative of Rourkela Contractor Workers’ Union, affiliated to CITU, M/s ABB India ltd, which had appointed Tiwari as a contract worker in the RSP, agreed to pay the ex-gratia.
Tiwari was killed in an accident on Monday near RSP Design department. He was immediately shifted to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH), but the doctor declared him brought dead. The union members had demanded adequate compensation to the kin of Tiwari. As per an agreement, the company will pay `7 lakh as compensation and additional `20,000 to shift the body to his native place.
