A 25-year-old Sundargarh girl, a teacher by profession, falls in love with a youth. Despite resistance at home, she stays with the youth in live-in relation. However, the youth on a day appears at the girl’s house with the latter’s body and weeping, says that the girl dies due to burn injury. But the girl’s family refuges to buy the story and lodges a FIR against the youth for abducting and killing her.
Sources said Dharitri Singh (25), daughter of Ramesh Chandra Singh, a resident of Kund village under Balinga police outpost in Sundargarh was working as a teacher in Kamondo Upper Primary School in Koira block. One Bhupesh Naik(27), a native of Bhedabahal in Sundargarh, used to come to his uncle’s house in Kund village. Bhupesh was working in a factory at Jharsuguda and was staying at Mudakata in Jharsuguda. The love relationship between Bhupesh and Dharitri had started.
Bhupesh and Dharitri , had been in live-in relationship since last four years. Recently, after summer vacation, Dharitri had not gone to her home in Sundargarh; rather she had gone to Bhupesh’s house at Jharsuguda. When Dharitri had not reached her home, her family members had lodged a missing complaint of Dharitri in Koira police station. On April 26, the family members of Dharitri had come to know that Dharitri had gone to her lover Bhupesh’s house. On April 27, Dharitri had received burn injuries in Bhupesh’s house.
Dharitri succumbed to her burn injuries on Sunday night at Star hospital in Cuttack. According to sources, the Malgodam police conducted the post mortem. On Monday, Bhupesh carrying the body of Dharitri in a ambulance, reached Balinga police outpost and sought the help of Balinga police fearing he might be targeted by the family members of Dharitiri and also by the villagers, as Dharitri was with him while she got burnt. Balinga police informed the father Dharitri and the family members of Dharitri reached police station but refused to accept the body of Dharitri. The family members alleged that Bhupesh after kidnapping Dharitri had set her ablaze. They went to the Town police station at Jharsuguda and lodged a FIR against Bhupesh.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the case.
