Senior Congress leader and party candidate for the Puri Assembly constituency Umaballav Rath on Monday condemned the threat to life of Surendranath Das of the Samata Kranti Dal who is also contesting the Puri Assembly seat.
Demanding immediate arrest of the culprits, Rath said, “Death threat to a political party leader is a very serious issue. The threat has come after the incident of firing on Minister Maheswar Mohanty. The law and order situation in pilgrim city Puri has completely gone out of control.”
“We warn the Puri district police administration, particularly the Kumbharpada police, to arrest the culprits of the threat to Das within two days, failing which the agitation will be intensified in the district,” said Rath.
