A dead man allegedly received a message about having taken the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine here.
As a consequence, the deceased's son was able to download the vaccine certificate, which exposed the sham in the Covid jab vaccination drive in Jagatsinghpur district.
The deceased man was identified as Govinda Chandra Sahoo, a resident of Urali village under Patenigaon GP under Jagatsinghpur block. He had died of Coronavirus in a private hospital in Cuttack on July 20, 2021.
Sahoo had been administered the first dose of Covid jab on April 9, 2021, in Mandasahi CHC. Surprisingly, a message was received by deceased's son Subha Kanta Sahoo that his father was successfully inoculated the second dose of Covid vaccine on Thursday and moreover it was informed that one Sasmita Bhola, a health worker, had conducted the inoculation bid in Mandasahi CHC around 3.25 PM.
Subha Kanta said that his father had taken the first dose of the vaccine five months ago. Then he had died while undergoing treatment affected by Covid. He asked how a fake message was dispatched to his mobile phone concerning vaccination of his father's second dose.
When he sought a clarification from an official in the Health Department, he said it was a system error and that the error would be rectified soon.
ADMO Public Health Dr PK Barik, however, assured that a high-level inquiry would be conducted in the matter and action would be taken against the errant person.
