A meeting of the District Congress Committees’ (DCC) presidents was held at the Congress Bhawan here under the chairmanship of PCC president Prasad Harichandan to draw strategy for the upcoming panchayat polls.
Four to five DCC chiefs, including those of Koraput and Jharsuguda did not attend the meeting.
Moreover, during the meeting a large number of supporters of deceased senior party leader lalatendu (lulu) Bidyadhar Mohapatra barged into the meeting hall shouting ‘Go back Hariprasad’ slogan. They also demanded immediate withdrawal of suspension order slapped on some Student Congress leaders for showing disrespect to Odisha in-charge BK Hariprasad.
“They (protestors) are our family members and in our team. They want to fight for Congress,” said PCC chief Harichandan.
On the other hand, an emergency meeting of the party’s MlAs has been called on Tuesday by leader of Opposition Narsingha Mishra.
