Upping its ante against Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma, the BJP on Saturday levelled another charge of irregularity saying that he has misused his power and helped his relatives acquire Government land.
BJP State vice-president Sameer Mohanty told reporters here that with the help of tainted chit fund companies Dasburma has amassed assets, including plots of land.
“The Minister has taken money to run Odia daily Sarbasadharana, which is now owned by him after acquiring it from the SlB Media and Entertainment Private limited, a chit fund firm which earlier owned the paper. later, it was transferred to the Team Media & Hospitality Private limited, in which Dasburma was a director. In 2009, when Dasburma was the Odisha State Housing Board Chairman, he showed undue favours to the publisher of the newspaper, Satyapriya Jaysingh, and allotted a house to him in Bhubaneswar illegally,” Mohanty said.
Mohanty further charged that in 2009, the Minister misused his authority and helped Sarbasadharana acquire 500 decimals of Idco land in the Chandrasekharpur area. This land was given to the Team Media, which publishes the newspaper.
“How was the Idco land, which was meant to help unemployed youths set up entrepreneurial ventures, given to the Team MediaIJ Only Dasburma taking undue advantage of his position has done the illegality,” said Mohanty.
“We demand that these facts should also be brought under the purview of the CBI probe (into the chit fund scam),” Mohanty added.
Meanwhile, the Nava Nirman Chhatra Sangathan submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir on Saturday demanding that Dasburma be removed from the Ministry for his involvement in the chit fund scam.
