The Koraput District Association of the Deaf (KDAD) observed the International Day of the Deaf here on Sunday.
The event began with an awareness rally. later a meeting was held on the occasion with association president Shaik Ibrahim presiding over the event. Sunabeda Municipality Chairperson Subhasree Mallick attended the event as chief guest and highlighted the problems of the deaf community in the district. She also inaugurated a handicraft exhibition of the association.
lecturer Dr Uma Patra of the Semiliguda College joined the event as chief speakers and DBDMF Koraput president G Sanjeev Kumar, Sunabeda Women’s College Principal Pabitra Kumar Bedanta and Semiliguda Press Club president Ajay Sahu as guests of honour.
KDAD distributed gift items to deaf and dumb students of Sunabeda and blankets to poor inhabitants of nearby villages.
