Day curfew would not be imposed in the State due to the Covid-19 situation, said Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena on Sunday.

He said the State’s Covid situation is well under control and does not warrant day curfew. He advised people to take all precautions to contain the spread of the virus.

Earlier in the day, Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro had said that in the wake the rapidly rising Covid-19 cases, the State Government might impose curfew during daytime.

“The State Government has already decided to impose night curfew in ten districts in view of the Covid-19 resurgence. Curfew during daytime is likely to be imposed in the next four to fivedays.

The situation is being reviewed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” said Patro. Notably, night curfew (from 10 pm to 5 am) will come into effect in Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts from Monday (April 5) till further orders.
