As part of the Van Mahotsav Week, students of the DAV Public School, Pokhariput went on a trip to participate in the ‘Global Seedball Challenge’, an initiative of sustainable and resilient community working group of C20. Civil20 is an engagement group of G20.
The children made mud balls and inserted seeds of eucalyptus and bamboo into it so that they will be dried; and after drying, seeds will be thrown to the reforestation areas so that they will be dispersed from the mother plant and can grow at far-off places where human plantation is not possible.
C20 Global Seedball Campaign is launched with the guidance of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, renowned spiritual leader and Chancellor of Amrita University, to restore the greenery of mother earth involving the nimble hands of young learner inculcating in them the value of conserving, preserving and restoring the natural ecosystem. Mata Amritanandamayi Devi is the chairperson of C20 this year.
The students also participated in the 999 challenge, a global initiative of Integrated Holistic Health Working group of Civil 20 that includes nine rounds of Surya Namaskar, nine minutes’ meditation, which has to be practised for minimum nine days. Both projects are coordinated by AYUDH, the international youth movement of Mata Amritanandamayi Math all over the world.
