Each household in Jharsuguda district will be given water supply from the Hirakud reservoir through pipeline by the State Government. The mega water project will also include Patrapali and Malda panchayats excluded earlier from this project.
After the Cabinet's approval on Saturday, Jharsuguda MLA and Health Minister Naba Kishore Das expressed his gatitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for this decision in a Press meet.
Minister Das added that State Government is committed to provide drinking water along with all basic amenities to each household in the district. The entire Jharsuguda Assembly constituency comprising 17 panchayats of Jharsuguda Sadar block, 33 panchayats of Lakhanpur block alongwith Jharsuguda, Belpahar and Brajrajnagar townships will be supplied drinking water facility by the State Government, the Health Minister said.
A total two and fifty lakhs of people including two panchayats of Sambalpur district will be benefitted out of this mega water project, Town BJD president Sandeep Awasthi said. In Press meet, senior BJD leaders Tapas Ray Chowdhury, Raghumani Patel and Jharsuguda BJD block president Damodar Nath were present.
