City-based voluntary organisation Odisha International Center will organise a ten-day Dandia Mahotsav at the Janata Maidan here from September 21 to 30.
like the Mahari dance of lord Jagannath, Dandia is the favourite dance of Goddess Durga. On occasion of Navaratri, for invoking Goddess Durga, for the last 11 years rituals of the traditional puja in the day and in the evening along with Dandia are performed at the Janata Maidan.For this year, well-known film director Sabyasachi Mohapatra has been nominated as the Dandia Mahotsav’s president. While Bibhuti Bhusan Kar and Sushismita Prusti have been nominated as working chairman, Ajay Kumar Nayak, Yashbont Mahapatra and Praydumna Mohanty as vice-presidents, Sanjay Chaudhury as general secretary and Adyaprana Subudhi as secy.
In the festival, stalls for toys , consumer goods and eatables will be set up.
On Saturday evening Minister Damodar Rout unveiled the souvenir of the Dandia Mahotsav. MP Prasanna Patsani would be the chief advisor and journalist Arun Panda the main sponsor, informed Odisha International Center chairman Paresh Nayak.
